1st time builder for editing work station

First time builder, don't know a lot about PC parts.


Looking to build an editing station for video(adobe premiere) audio(any DAW) maybe dabble in small animation to make intros for video content more intresting. (don't know a program yet). Here's what they suggested for parts.

Some questions to start: Do I need 3 different drives? anything you would change? larger PSU for more headroom in case I upgrade things later? Spending this money I want it to last as long as possible. Thanks.

You don't need 3 drives to start out. With video editing it's just nice to be able to split up some of the storage needs. OS/Apps on the SSD, your project files/footage on the nvme ssd and a large HDD for backups and archiving is an optimal setup. But you can always start out with just one and add more once you have some more money to upgrade.

A more powerful PSU would make sense if you either upgrade to a HEDT system (where the cpu draws a lot more power) or add more GPUs in the future, or A LOT of drives.

Maybe look for a 850W PSU from Seasonic or Corsair, which are brands that are recommended often.

You could also bump down your GPU a bit to a 2060 Super for example, as premiere Video editing really doesn't require such a strong GPU. The Editing/Rendering Performance in Premier Pro between a 2060 Super and 2080 Super is marginal.

Absolutely! For 1200$ that's a really solid build which will get you good Video Editing performance and the ability to upgrade some more. If you want to have even higher longevity, consider a new B550 Motherboard, which will most likely support more of the upcoming AM4 AMD CPU generations. MSI B550 Gaming Pro Carbon, MSI B550 Aorus Pro AC, or the ASRock B550 Steel Legend are good picks.

this is the one I'm looking at. Question: Is an antenna required for the wifi/bluetooth? Is that something I wire in or just buy antenna and attach them to the i/o? Not sure what to get for that. google search for wifi antenna is so broad ha.

The antenna should be there in the box, so you won't need to buy anything extra
