It might be an upside-down question, because the entire internet is helping people how to "un"bend pins, but I want to bend some for a simple reason.

Motherboard : Asus prime x570 pro
4090 FE in PCIe-16 slot 1
3090 FE in PCIe-16 slot 3

The 3090 will obscure the entire bottom side of the motherboard where most of the internal pins are located. All I want to connect are the power- and reset-switches. My plan is to bend them 90 degrees so they are positioned flat.

I was planning to use a lighter to warm up de pins and then bend them over using a small piece of wood.

Will the pins hold ?

Ah yes I've run into this problem myself with another Motherboard and a quad-GPU setup. What I ended up doing was not bend the pins (though this should work too, if you're careful) but rather stripped the plastic from the connector to only use the inside metal around the cable. This made the entire connector small enough to fit underneath the GPU and it could be bent much earlier to get out of the way of the GPU.

Does that make sense? Of course, do note that the (black) plastic around the connector cables (e.g. front-panel, reset, PWR BTN etc) is also there keep it from shorting, so make sure none of the metal is touching.

Bending the pins downwards should also work, but I'd make sure to bend them roughly in the middle of the pins length, otherwise you might snap it at the base.

The bending worked quite easily. I used the adapter that was provided with the MB to bend them without turning. Stripping the wires was the next thing I wanted to do, but it looks fine now.

Looks good as new ;) If it works, it works is my motto too.
