Sata Drives not recognized by Win11 in new PC build

Just completed my first build with:

• i3 10100 10th gen
• Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Ultra (Lga 1200)
• WD 1 TB Wd Blue M.2 Nvme drive
• 32 Gigs 3200MHz Vengeance ram
• Window 11 Pro

Everything is running well and connected properly, except that Win11 doesn't recognize my WD 300 GB Sata Drive.
(I initially tried a Samsung 1 TB SSD but switched to the 300 GB mechanical drive as the vibrations confirm that power was getting to the drive)

The Bios recognizes the drive as shown in the 2 attached images.
Disk management tool and Diskpart don't see the drive so I can't mount the drive and use it.

I've read the Gigabyte Aorus Z590 Ultra Mobo manual and there shouldn't be any conflict with the 1 TB Nvme drive in slot 3.
(M.2 slot 1 only works with 11th gen Cpus and mine is gen 10)

I've tried different Sata ports and changed the cables just to make sure connections were ok.

Not sure why no Sata drive is recognized by the OS = Win11 Pro

That's weird. Could be a faulty drive. Try device manager and see whether it shows up there. If still no, try a Linux live USB. If even that's a no, you're probably dealing with a faulty SSD.

Sadly both the drives I tried are fine. Plugged them in to my Hp Omen desktop and did a thorough Chkdsk on them. (2hrs)
No bad sectors. I'm bamboozled with this one.

I haven't tried to re-insert the M.2 Nvme drive currently in position 3 into position 2
(I have 3 spots for Nvme drive and position 1 is reserved for gen11 cpus - mine is an i3 101000 gen10)

If I do understand things correctly, with some mobos, the Nvme drives share channels with some of the Sata drives and therefore exclude them.
However, my Gigabyte Aorus Z590 Ultra doesn't seem to indicate this and strangely the Bios sees the Sata drives. (Weird?)
Only Windows 11 doesn't see them.

I could just get another Nvme drive as a data drive, but it would be nice to also have some Sata drives internally. (I have many extras)

Otherwise my first build works well once I became aware of the XMP and TPM settings in Bios.

P.S. I'm attaching the manual for the Z590 mobo, but I don't see anything in the Sata section that would exclude my drives.

That's weird indeed. How is the drive formatted, and was there an old OS installed on it previously? Or completely empty?

I am really at a loss here Alex.

This is my first build and everything else works perfectly including the 1 TB Nvme boot drive that runs Windows 11 Pro.
I have now successfully installed a second 1 TB Nvme data drive that also works perfectly.

I have read that with some mobos the Nvme drives can conflict with the Sata drives (shared channels?)
That doesn't seem to be the case with my Gigabyte Aorus Z590 Ultra mobo. (I've attached the Sata install notes from the manual)

I've tried several different Sata drives both SSD and mechanical. All formatted Ntfs and Gpt.
I've formatted them on my Hp Omen (where they work) and with Diskpart on the new build during Windows install with shift-F10 to enter Diskpart; but the install can't proceed after successful Diskpart formatting because the install program doesn't recognize the drives.

The Bios recognizes the secondary sata drives and lists them in the boot order. (see boot option 2 in attached pgn)
Once in Win11, Disk Management tool and Diskpart don't see the drive so I can't mount them

I've tried different sata ports on the mobo (I have 6 of them) and changed the cables just to make sure all cables were ok.
I've tried all the sata drives on my other Win11 Hp Omen pc and they work well.

I've tried all the sata drives all alone in the build without the Nvme 1 Tb boot drive.
Bios sees them but they are invisible to Win11 and all utilities (Disk managment, diskpart, Aomei)

This is very weird indeed and beyond my current level of expertise

Problem Solved!!

After much ado, I discovered that the SATA MODE SELECTION setting in Bios defaults to INTEL RST PREMIUM WITH INTLE OPTANE

switched the setting to ACHI and the drive is seen by Windows 11.

Now my first build is complete and working well
