Hello and thanks for your willingness to help,

I recently added two new RAM sticks to my old build which resulted in red CPU light.

Slightly annoyed I thought to myself "at least it's an easy fix". Because I, as well as 99% of you reading this thought there must be an incompatibility issue (despite having done my due diligence beforehand) or that one of the sticks was faulty. So I proceeded to remove the new sticks and booted back up, with the exact same setup I've been using without any issue for the last four years.

Imagine my surprise when the light was still red. "Okay fine" I thought to myself as I begun checking the nearby power cords. Must have just nudged one out of place right? Alas no.. so I went to CGDirector and brought up the step by step debug guide ( https://www.cgdirector.com/fix-red-cpu-light-on-motherboard/ ) and went methodically to work.

I imagine you can guess the outcome since I am now creating this thread. The CPU light is still red and my brain is now threatening to overheat.

The only logical answer I can think of is that 'something' happened while I was adding the new RAM sticks.. but what??

Any thoughts and ideas are greatly appreciated as I am at my wits end after 6 hours of debugging and still the same ominous red light staring at me.

Thank you for reading my rant and pray may you provide the missing piece to this puzzle 🙏

Hopefully yours,
HSK

Update

During a complete deconstruction phase I discovered a broken pin in the SATA power intake.

I have most likely caused this myself during my trouble shooting in the eleventh hour. That being said, there is always the chance that the pin was already damaged but functional and got disconnected during the insertion on the RAM sticks.

Would this potentially explain the CPU red light?
And if so.. is there any fix or must I concede and look for another motherboard?

Update.

Got my brand new motherboard (of the exact type that stopped working) with RAM and more SSD. I installed it all and fired up the PC only to find the same error message- red CPU light 🙄

Good news is that it seems my old motherboard is fine. Bad news is I have no friggin clue why my PC ain't booting up.

If anyone has any idea what to do please let me know 🙏
