Hello and thanks for your willingness to help,
I recently added two new RAM sticks to my old build which resulted in red CPU light.
Slightly annoyed I thought to myself "at least it's an easy fix". Because I, as well as 99% of you reading this thought there must be an incompatibility issue (despite having done my due diligence beforehand) or that one of the sticks was faulty. So I proceeded to remove the new sticks and booted back up, with the exact same setup I've been using without any issue for the last four years.
Imagine my surprise when the light was still red. "Okay fine" I thought to myself as I begun checking the nearby power cords. Must have just nudged one out of place right? Alas no.. so I went to CGDirector and brought up the step by step debug guide ( https://www.cgdirector.com/fix-red-cpu-light-on-motherboard/ ) and went methodically to work.
I imagine you can guess the outcome since I am now creating this thread. The CPU light is still red and my brain is now threatening to overheat.
The only logical answer I can think of is that 'something' happened while I was adding the new RAM sticks.. but what??
Any thoughts and ideas are greatly appreciated as I am at my wits end after 6 hours of debugging and still the same ominous red light staring at me.
Thank you for reading my rant and pray may you provide the missing piece to this puzzle
Hopefully yours,
HSK
