Hi Alex and hi everybody!!
i'm Luigi from Italy and I'm freelance visual designer. I discovered this site and alex's great advice because I'm trying to build a new workstation for upgrade my visual design skills. I use osx but I am very inclined to create an assembled workstation and use windows system. I'm trying to improve my motion design skills but with my old mac it's now impossible. I use a lot the adobe suite for graphic design and video edit and sometimes blender and touch designer.

Hi all,

The names Kevin, and I am an Animator, 3D generalist, and indie Game dev. My current PC was built back in 2010 and I've been meaning to build a new computer for the last 5 years, I've known about this site for at least a year and have finally completed a pc part picker so I can finally ask if my wish list is indeed a good idea. I am planning to do multiple things with this New computer, from game development, to animating, digital painting, gaming, and streaming various bits of each of those then editing that footage and posting it to my YT channel as Timelapse videos. Thank you for this Site Alex, it has helped me understand so much more about what I need.

Hi all,

Nothing thrilling about me. I have the personality of a brick and look funnier when I look good. I dabbled in 3D for about 15 years, but my career is in [redacted for being insanely and incomprehensibly boring]. Like I said: Not thrilling. But, I am in a much better place now, and with the support of my wife, I'm able to really dive into 3D and make something of it. I don't know if that will be a new career trajectory or if it will just be a way to fill my creative impulses, but here I am. I have found this forum, and the articles on this site in being paramount in taking me from an absolute dummy to a....well, still a dummy, but an incrementally smarter one. And for that, I'm grateful. Good to meet ya.

I´m Carmen from Germany. I mostly do Motion Design and 2D Animation and sometimes also Photo and Videoedtiting. I was all my life drawing but started to get digital in 2015 by studying so called "digital filmmaking". After I finished at university I went travelling for a really long time and since a year now I am doing a lot of personal projects again but also start to get hired for projects So I want to increase the getting hired thing and that´s how I am trying to understand about which hardware is the best for me etc. and I absolutely love the articles I could find here, being really informative and easy to understand! Hi Everyone,

I'm Eliott, currently living in France and working as a freelance concept artist for a couple of years now.

I found this site several months ago and so far I've learned a bunch from it, but I'm still very new to pc building and tech stuff since I've never really dived into it.

I'm currently working on a laptop workstation from dell that I purchased 2 years ago but I already have performance issues when dealing with larger scene in Blender cycles for example.

Thoses performance problems really slowed me down in my artistic process and led me to my biggest artblock since I started in this field.

In a near future I will need your help for building a pc that can handle the type of work I do.

My dinosaur of a PC can hardly open Google Chrome these days, let alone handle the load from Blender and related programs.

I am glad I came across this wonderful place. My name is George, I work in audiovisual arts, I am a musician and I enjoy both worlds, tech and arts. I followed PC builder Part picker and PC building tutorial. Really love it.

So my current specs are:

AMD 5600x
16GB Corcair Vengenace Pro 3600Mhz
MSI Tomahawk WiFi X570
2x Crucial P2 512GB
Seagate 4TB hdd
Nvidia Geforce 2070 Super
Corsair RM550

I have few questions: DoI have enough power? I mena it all works. But how do I know if I need more, like 650w?

2. How to correctly use my memory drives for better performace?
